Quit smoking success starts with personal readiness, and sometimes that means waiting until the timing and motivation are truly your own.
In my clinical practice, I am deeply committed to the success of my clients. This commitment sometimes requires a difficult conversation: telling a potential client that now is not the right time for them to quit smoking using my methods.
The Foundation of Clinical Success
Clinical hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for behavior change, but it is not a “magic wand” that can bypass a person’s fundamental readiness or agency. For the Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes program to be effective, certain criteria must be met:
1. Personal Agency: You must be quitting for yourself, not because a partner, doctor, or family member is pressuring you. If the motivation is external, the subconscious will often resist the change.
2. Prioritization of Health: Quitting a long-term habit requires mental space. If you are in the midst of an extreme crisis (such as an active bereavement or major legal battle), we may decide to delay the session until you have the capacity to process the transition.
3. Commitment to the Process: My role is to facilitate the change in your subconscious, but your conscious mind must be aligned with that goal.
Maintaining High Standards
By being selective, I maintain a high success rate and ensure that every person who enters my clinic is in the best possible position to become a non-smoker for life. An honest ‘no’ today is often the first step toward a successful ‘yes’ in the future.
